We’re heading out to Pasadena today to attend the 2008 Art Center Design Conference “Serious Play”
“The biennial Art Center Design Conference is a three-day international gathering of entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and innovators from many fields and disciplines. Every once in awhile, we come across an advertisement, sales piece or commercial that we wish we could take credit for. We could try to replicate it, but in the end, sometimes it’s better just to admit we can’t compete. Here is one such example:
Ever wonder what happens when your files are sent to the printer for production? Check out this sneak peek inside one of our local printers while they were producing a postcard job for Cloudworks. Thanks to our friends at CR Print for giving us the opportunity to go behind the scenes!

A Portrait of Rexburg in Typography:
Now you may be asking yourself, what or where is Rexburg? Well, just past Idaho Falls in south east Idaho is a small town called Rexburg, home of Brigham Young University’s Idaho campus. As part of our Typography class, I asked students to go on a local type hunt.

Type is all around us, we experience it so many times we simply don’t see it anymore. Communities have different typographic tendencies and personalities. In an attempt to raise awareness of the different styles and unique character (in typography) of a community, we collected a series of different type styles from around Rexburg and combined them into a large (9 foot by 22 foot) type “quilt”. Each letterform was captured photographically and then mounted on a 4 inch by 6 inch piece of foamcore.

The final artifact is truly impressive and captures the attention of anyone who enters the art building as it hangs from the 3rd floor atrium.
TONIC launched a new web site today with lots of new examples of recent client work. Jason Carignan, TONIC’s President stated: “The new site is a clean, timeless design that makes our creative process the hero. This time around, we opted to build the entire site on a blog platform to make it as easy as possible for our design teams to keep the site fresh with new work.”
TONIC was recently ranked #8 on the San Fernando Business Journal’s list of Valley advertising and public relations firms. Tonic has placed in the Top 10 for the past 4 years and continues to be recognized as the leading brand consultancy along the 101-Corridor. See the complete list.
